An expert on China, Tan Teng Boo is the founder and CEO of Capital Dynamics. He is highly regarded as an avid entrepreneur and a fund manager with deep-seated values of integrity. The brain behind Capital Dynamics and its family of i Capital products and services, Tan Teng Boo has built the firm from a start-up into a global investment firm with more than RMB1.5 billion assets under management. He is licenced in his personal capacity as a fund manager in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia, and manages the local and global funds under Capital Dynamics. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours), majoring in economics from Sussex University, UK.


Dr. Grace Gao brings with her profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience in China’s political system and public administration. Vice President of North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power. Grace is a born-and-bred Beijingian with a bachelor’s degree from the Foreign Affairs College of China in 1998. She earned an MA from the University of Iowa in 1999 and a Ph.D. from Boston University in 2004. Before transferring to her current position, Grace worked with various governmental organisations in China, holding an array of senior roles that include Assistant Director of the Zhengdong New District Administrative Committee, Secretary of the Youth League Zhengzhou Committee of Henan Province, and Vice Mayor and Head of the Department of Publicity and Communication of Siping City, Jilin Province.


Professor Yan Se is a professor of Applied Economics at the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as an M.A. in Economic History and a B.A. in International Economics from Peking University. Professor Yan's research specialties are economic history, development economics, macroeconomics and the Chinese economy. His research has been widely recognised in the global arena, winning awards, grants and exposure in prestigious international economic publications. Professor Yan Se has also been invited to give talks at Harvard Business School, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.


Professor Zhao, an expert on China’s history, particularly the late Tang to Song dynasties’, obtained her Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees from the History Department of Peking University. She was Visiting Scholar at St Anthony's College, Oxford University and Visiting Professor at the Department of Sinology, University of Wurzburg. Amongst her many writings, Professor Zhao has published “The Wandering of Chinese Martial Arts: The Military Examination and Martial Arts in Ancient China” (Chinese People’s Liberation Army Publishing House); co-authored “History of Relationship Between China and Korea (Ancient)” (Social Sciences Academic Press); “General History of Liao, Song, Western Xia and Jin Dynasties, Volume Five: Religion and Customs” (People's Publishing House) and “General History of Chinese Imperial Examination System: Song Dynasty” (Shanghai People′s Publishing House).


Professor Mu obtained her PH.D at Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2007. Her research interests are contemporary western critical theory, contemporary English fiction and traditional Chinese culture. Her latest book is Disenchantment: Postmodernist Rewriting of Five Classic Fairy Tales (2018). And she completed the research on "Rewriting in Contemporary English Fiction" (2012-2019) supported by National Social Science Fund of China and based on the work is going to publish a new book Sous Rature of Truth: Rewriting in Contemporary English Fiction and the Turn of the Truth-seeking Narrative. She also gives lectures about traditional Chinese culture on topics such as "Five Cardinal Relationships in Confucianism", "Chinese Junzi Culture" and "Dao and Chan in Chinese Mountains and Waters". The online course "Chinese Culture in English", in which she is a major participant, won "the Prestigious Online Course Award" of China's Ministry of Education. And she was awarded "the Prestigious Young Teacher in Colleges and Universities in Beijing" by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 2017.


Professor Zhang Jian Jun is an internationally renowned artist whose work has been exhibited in numerous distinguished institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Art Museum in Beijing, China, and featured in ARTnews, Art in America, Art Contemporary China, Asia-Pacific Art, and The New York Times. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Arts at NYU Shanghai and a graduate of the Art Department of the Shanghai Drama Institute. Professor Zhang is the recipient of an Asia Cultural Council Fellowship, two Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grants, and a New York Foundation for the Art Fellowship. He has served as Assistant Director & Head of the Curatorial Department of the Shanghai Art Museum and participated in the International Curatorial Programme at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.


Professor Ma Lan brings 19 years of global marketing and strategy experience with leading companies in China, Japan, Singapore and US. In her last role as Global Marketing Director, Professor Ma Lan led the global marketing team for the DuPont Tedlar® business. Her previous roles with DuPont include Asia Pacific Strategic Planning at Performance Coatings and Senior Consultant at Corporate Marketing & Sales. Before DuPont, Professor Ma was a Consultant/Marketing Specialist at McKinsey & Company. Earlier in her career, Professor Ma worked with Proctor & Gamble in the US and Japan. Born and raised in China, she received a Bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Peking University before moving to the US to complete her Doctorate. Fluent in Chinese and English, she taught Strategic Marketing for the MBA programme at Singapore Management University as an Adjunct Professor. Since early 2018, she has been teaching at New York University Shanghai, Business School, as an adjunct professor. Professor Ma currently serves as a corporate advisor and board member.


Chong Sui Hiong, Shaun boasts over 20 years of experience in China’s dynamic and competitive retail industry. Mr. Chong is currently the CEO of G Plus Retail Management, which is part of Golden Eagle Retail Group Limited, a successful retailer in China. Mr Chong served as an Executive Director of Parkson Retail from 2014 to early 2019, also holding a role as its CEO. He graduated with a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia, a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. He joined the Parkson Group in 1994 and was also a director of various subsidiaries of the Company.


Mr. Mao, aged 79 years, is a tried-and-true business pioneer, winning the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurs in China. He is the founder and developer of three successful business ventures: the Feixiang Group, the best-selling lighter manufacturer in the world; the Fotile Group, the leading high-end kitchen appliances manufacturer in China; and the College for Successor of Family Business. The Fotile Group earned a revenue of over RMB10 billion in 2017 and boasts 16,000 employees, making it one of the most formidable business entities in China. Helming a company built on a combination of Western and Chinese management styles, Mr. Mao is an expert at amalgamating East and West to build a business empire. He is also a former part-time professor of Tsinghua University and Peking University.


April Ma is a tax partner of PwC and works for the China Corporate Tax Group. Her specialty lies in advising multinational corporations on cross-border investments as well as PRC tax-planning and compliance and consultation. She is a Certified Tax Agent.
